What is Ceramic Coating?

You just spent your savings on the car of your dreams, and you want to do anything you can to protect how fantastic it looks. But you know, the minute you drive it off the lot, so many things can harm the aesthetics of your new baby. But what can you do? Well, let me introduce you to Ceramic Coating!

Every car has a base coat of paint, and then a clear coat which protects the paint. Ceramic coating is applied to the top of your car's clear coat. This layer basically seals the paint, making it more resistant to ultra-violet rays, scratches, chemicals, and extreme heat. The coating creates a bond on top your paint, protecting it and sealing it from bad elements that would normally damage it.

Ceramic coating basically protects your car's paint from the day to day grime that can over time, get stuck in it. Bugs, dirt, and dust just wash right away with a car that has ceramic coating applied. As you can see by the image below, the dirt sticks to the side that has not been coated.

Ceramic coating also protects from UV damage and oxidation. Ceramic coatings does protect your paint, but it does not make your car resistant to rock chips and major scratches. Ceramic Coating will protect against minor scratches from things like brush, improper washing, or animals jumping against the car. The car also still needs to be washed even with a ceramic coating. It will just take less time to wash down the car as it did before the coating.
